Troubleshooting Zoom or Meet

How to Fix Zoom or Google Meet Problems During Your Online French Lesson

If you’re taking online French lessons and suddenly face a poor internet connection, lagging video, or trouble joining your class on Zoom or Google Meet — don’t worry! These issues are common and usually easy to solve. This troubleshooting guide will help you fix the most frequent problems so you can get back to enjoying your French class without interruptions.

If your issue is related to your computer or Wi-Fi setup rather than Zoom or Meet, check our Technical Advice page for more detailed troubleshooting steps.

1 - Common Internet Connection Issues

Before assuming there’s a problem with Zoom or Meet, check your internet connection — it’s often the real cause.

  • Move closer to your Wi-Fi router. Walls or other devices can weaken your signal.

  • Restart your modem and router. This often solves temporary network glitches.

  • Try a wired connection (Ethernet). It’s much more stable than Wi-Fi.

  • Close other applications that might use bandwidth (Netflix, YouTube, cloud backups).

  • Ask others in your household to pause downloads or streaming during your French lesson.

Still having issues? Visit our Technical Advice page for more ways to stabilize your connection.

2. Troubleshooting Zoom During Your French Class

  • Update Zoom to the latest version before your lesson.

  • Restart your computer to clear temporary system errors.

  • Leave and rejoin the meeting if the app freezes.

  • If you see “Your internet connection is unstable,” turn off your camera temporarily.

  • Check your audio and video settings and ensure Zoom has permission to use them.

  • Switch devices if your laptop is slow — try joining from your phone or tablet.

If none of these steps work, check our Technical Advice page for additional help specific to your device or browser.

3. Troubleshooting Google Meet During Your French Lesson

  • Use Google Chrome for best compatibility.

  • Allow camera and microphone access when prompted.

  • Check your audio and video sources under Meet settings (click the gear icon).

  • Disable browser extensions that might interfere.

  • Lower the video resolution if your connection is unstable.

  • Try incognito mode or clear your browser cache.

4. What to Do If You Still Can’t Join Your Class

If you’re still unable to connect after trying the steps above:

  • Contact your teacher via email or WhatsApp.

  • Explain briefly what’s happening (e.g., “Zoom not connecting,” “audio not working”).

  • Your teacher will reschedule your session or provide an alternative link.

You can also manage or reschedule your session directly through our Reservation section.

5. How to Prevent Future Connection Problems

  • Test your connection 5–10 minutes before class.

  • Restart your device daily to clear background apps.

  • Keep Zoom, Meet, and your browser up to date.

  • Use headphones with a microphone for better sound.

  • Find a quiet, well-lit space with a stable Wi-Fi signal
